Caritas Czech Republic – Caritas Diocese Brno keeps helping refugees in Greece. There are about 80 thousand refugess here currently. So far, the help has focused on the supply of material equipment, healthcare material and teams of volunteer medical staff on behalf of Masaryk University. From now on, Caritas wants to support their partner Caritas Greece and employ new employeed to coordinate humanitarian aid.

Our efforts were greatly endorsed by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Greece, Jan Bondy. We want to continue supporting our partner Caritas Greece by employing new staff. Moreover, we have initiated cooperation with Doctors of the World to start sending professional medical teams from the Czech Republic to Athens. However, this will not be feasible unless we gain sufficient financial support from donors and donators.” Says Filip Habrman, coordinator of humanitarian aid, Caritas Diocese Brno

The new project is supported by the Ministries of Health and Migration of Greece as well. A mutual procedure is now being discussed.

Doctors of the World are the biggest providers of medical humanitarian activities in Greece. They have been helping Caritas now to arrange the entry for Czech medical teams to Detention Centers and to “open centers” – another type of refugee camps in Greece.
