War victims from Iraqi Kurdistan deserve our solidarity

Diocesan Caritas workers from Brno visited Iraqi Kurdistan to find out how to help the local people. Iraqi Kurdistan is an autonomous entity within the federal Iraqi Republic that is suffering from a shortage of medical care because of the long standing war. Kurdistan represents one of the main defenses against ISIL.

Diocesan Caritas Brno is planning to support   medical care and build a hospital in the demolished town of Sinjal where there is no one currently providing aid.  The country has 1.8 million refugees from a total of 6.9 million inhabitants.  One hundred thousand (100,000) people have no access to medical care.

"I think, if Caritas can help, war victims deserve our solidarity“ said Filip Habrman, coordinator of humanitarian activities in Diocesan Caritas Brno.

People from Kurdistan represent one of the main defenses against ISIL.  Yet, their life conditions and their lack of support hardly reflect the importance they play in this struggle.
