Church to send aid as strong quake hits central Italy

A strong earthquake struck central Italy early on 24 August, causing severe destruction to buildings and the loss of life. The magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck around the Rieti region. The worst hit towns were Amatrice and Accumoli, with the epicentre in Norcia. Read more on caritas.org.

Every year lots of humanitarian workers die in helping others

On Friday 19th August, we remember the World Humanitarian Day dedicated to humanitarian workers. According to The Aid Worker Security Database, 287 humanitarian workers in helping others were killed, kidnapped or hurt last year. Organizations associated in FoRS - the Czech Forum for Development Cooperation and The Czech Red Cross see as important to point out this fact and also to remind people of the number of humanitarian crises in the world.
