Humanitarian aid

is short-term material and logistical assistance in a moment of sudden humanitarian crises caused by natural disaster or social events in the country. Its aim is to save lives, ensure the basic human needs and sanitation (water supply, food, shelter) are met and to provide basic medical assistance. It is a short-term activity primarily focusing on the immediate risk.

Caritas launches registration database for assistance offered to migrants

Refugees who are escaping war-torn countries and heading for Europe are arriving exhausted and empty-handed. A number of our fellow citizens are concerned about this and would like to contribute to the improvement of the unhappy fates of the refugees. At the behest of the Czech Bishop’s Conference, Caritas Czech Republic has prepared an electronic database through which people can offer assistance in the form of accommodation, material or volunteer aid.

Second major earthquake hits Nepal

Nepal was rocked by a massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake at 12:56pm today. There were a series of large aftershocks of 5.4 at 1:19pm and 6.3 at 1:21pm, following that that kept everyone on edge.Nepal’s Information Ministry is reporting that there are over 1600 people injured and over 39 deaths in many of the already severely affected districts.
