In developed countries, good mental health has recently become increasingly important. Being mentally at ease is more important to our lives than it seems. In developing countries, however, mental health is not publicly discussed and is often associated with social exclusion. We interviewed our Country Directors and asked them how mental health is viewed in the countries they work in.
The need to pay more attention to mental health increased even more with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, which, in addition to the spread of the disease itself, also had psychosocial consequences. Loss of loved ones, isolation, constant fear and insecurity have affected people's mental health in both developed and developing countries. In poor countries, however, the situation is made worse by the fact that there is often not sufficient psychological care or mental health awareness.
How is mental health viewed in countries where Caritas Czech Republic helps? Our Country Directors will tell us more.
