As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health and social care and work on systemic changes. We also focus on global development education and awareness.

Thaer's dream of working in the cooling and air conditioning maintenance business came true

Tháer Hazem Aziz, a 25-year-old newlywed, is also a father-to-be. Despite the fact that he was born and raised in Ramadi, he and his family live Al-Heet today. He was studying before ISIS attacked, but after ISIS he sometimes would his father fix heaters, refrigerators, and cookers. Thaer was unemployed before to enrolling in the Livelihood Initiative, but he had a strong interest in refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment repair and wanted to learn more about it. Thaer was able to work in this field thanks to the Caritas Czech Republic and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Caritas will provide psychological support and basic needs to war-affected people in Lviv region

The war in Ukraine has already displaced more than 14 million people from their homes, not only across the country's borders but also to other places in Ukraine. People who have lost their homes often face psychological problems. Caritas Czech Republic will provide internally displaced people in Lviv region not only with the basic necessities of life, but also with access to psychosocial care, which is much needed in times of war.

Caritas Czech Republic supplied the recently opened perinatal unit of the National Pediatric Hospital in Cambodia with modern equipment. It will increase the capacity to provide high quality care for mothers and their new born children, which will lead to further decrease in perinatal mortality.

Ukrainian refugees will receive cash assistance through Caritas Czech Republic

Refugees from Ukraine, accommodated in the households or placement centers from Dubasari, Straseni and Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will receive cash assistance through a project run by Caritas Czech Republic. This initiative will give refugees the dignity of choice in fulfilling their basic needs and will help them to restore a sense of normalcy. Moreover, the refugees will be able to purchase goods and services with cash assistance, which in turn boosts to the economy of the Moldavian communities

Bees - an unexpected tool in the fight against poverty

Since 2018, on 20th May we celebrate World Bee Day. The importance of bees for the ecosystem and the food industry has long been known. But these insects are also a source of work and livelihoods in developing regions. One example is the Mantapala refugee camp in Zambia, where dozens of refugees have started to make a living from beekeeping thanks to Caritas Czech Republic.
