Closing Conference: Support Traditional Livelihood in Tusheti

On October 30, 2018, Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia hosted the closing ceremony of conference of the project "Supporting Traditional Livelihood in Tusheti", funded by the Czech Development Agency in the hotel "Babaneuri Marani" in Akhmeta municipality.

Fundraising campaign for the family of Mykola

Mykola Shuruta (26) died on 7 December in the factory 'Borgers' in Rokycany, Czech Republic, which supplies parts for the automobile industry. A migrant worker, Mykola had come to the Czech Republic to earn money for his family from Ukraine. This fundraising campaign is organised to support the family of Mykola in this immediate period following his death, and to help solve practical issues which they are now facing. Thanks to many generous donors 87 550 crowns have been raised till the end of January.

More violence in Eastern Ukraine, thousands are without water and power

Caritas fears for a humanitarian emergency in eastern Ukraine following an upsurge in fighting between government forces and Russian-backed separatists. Fighting in the frontline town of Avdiivka has cut water and power to most of the 25 000 inhabitants, while temperatures have fallen as low as -17C. Caritas Ukraine has distributed emergency food packs to 1 000 households containing enough supplies for 2-3 weeks and will distribute another 1 000 packs along with cash grants. Since its creation 22 years ago, Caritas Georgia has always been living with its beneficiaries. The inspiration stemming from grassroots people has been reflected in the many successful projects implemented by the organisation. In December 2016 Caritas Czech Republic, together with its partner organisations, presented the results of annual cooperation aimed at better availability of health and social care for people with handicaps living in Georgia.

Caritas delivered 1,5 tons of Christmas presents to Ukraine

Christmas for Ukrainian Children

Christmas presents for more than 300 Ukrainian children filled up a lorry of the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc (CAO). The lorry went abroad on Tuesday, 13th December 2016. The children will unwrap the presents during the Ukrainian Christmas – on 5th and 6th January. They are from socially disadvantaged families, from children’s homes or they had to abandon their homes due to the military conflict in the east of the country…

Caritas Serbia leads inclusion work for people with disabilities in South Eastern Europe

Stanislav Hocevar, Archbishop of Belgrade and President of Caritas Serbia, opened the Regional Conference on Welfare and Active Social Policies that Caritas Serbia organised last 21-22 September. Road to raise ASD awareness in Georgia

Since 2015 the Caritas Czech Republic has been developing and improving services for children and youth with the autism spectrum disorders in Georgia. Recently training on problem behaviour was conducted and protocol on identification, diagnostics, and management of autism spectrum disorders has been drafted which are in great need in Georgia.
