Organizational context

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit non-governmental organization with field activities implemented worldwide (Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa) and an extensive social & health services programme in the Czech Republic. CCR is a member of the international network of the Caritas Internationalis and cooperates with a number of international and local partners.

In addition to emergency response in case of natural and man-made disasters, the organization focuses on 4 key thematic areas: 1/ sustainable livelihoods and small-scale entrepreneurship; 2/ vocational education (youth and adults); 3/ assistance to refugees and internally displaced people 4/ health care and social services;

Responsibilities

The Country Programme Coordinator (CPC) is responsible for providing support to CCR’s Country Programme in the respective country/ region, involving both implementation of country-based programmes as well as active role in programme development. CPC cooperates closely with respective Financial Coordinator (FC) and Country Directors (CD), under the supervision of the Regional Manager (RM). Specific CPC’s roles include (please note a detailed job description will be provided upon hiring):

Support of CCR projects implementation

  • Supervise and monitor project implementation in line with CCR internal regulations and ensure the implementation is in line with given projects´ objectives and respective donor rules.
  • Complete and finalize project reports in cooperation with CD and FC.
  • Coordinate project activities taking place in the Czech Republic.
  • Communicate with Czech donors and provide them with timely and accurate information about project implementation.
  • Support CDs in communication with international donors, partners and experts when needed.
  • Pro-actively address challenges and problems identified in project implementation and support CDs in fast decision making and action.

Administrative support of CCR missions

  • Provide CCR expatriate staff and experts with necessary administrative support.
  • Support missions in preparation and control of contracts.
  • Ensure all relevant documents are archived in internal CCR’s databases, easily accessible and identifiable.
  • Prepare visibility materials on CCR projects and country programme(s).

Contribution to strategic development of the CCR country programme(s)

  • Monitor funding opportunities and in close coordination with CDs propose potential areas of intervention.
  • Assume coordination responsibility over proposal development.
  • Support CDs and RM in identification of international donors and partners and in nurturing respective relations.
  • Support CDs in formulation of CCR country programme strategy.
  • Monitor developments in the respective country/region with respect to ongoing conflicts, policy changes, socio-economic aspects, weather, and other relevant issues that can have an impact on the current activities and future programmatic direction.

Qualifications and competencies

Required

  • valid EU residence permit
  • university degree in relevant fields (development and humanitarian studies, human rights, social sciences, business management and similar)
  • excellent knowledge of English (oral and written)
  • excellent writing skills (both Czech and English)
  • excellent organizing and coordination skills
  • ability to perform tasks in pro-active, independent, quality and timely manner
  • ability and readiness to improvise when needed and solve problems in creative way
  • advanced user skills of MS Office software (predominantly MS Excel and Word)

Recommended

  • experience in project cycle management in development cooperation and/ or humanitarian aid
  • project proposal writing skills
  • project report writing skills
  • familiarity with project financial management
