I. Position

Name of position: Field Coordinator - Project Manager

Length of employment: Initially until the end of 2022, with possibility of an open-ended contract

Type of position: Full time

Place of employment: Uzhorod (Transcarpathian Region), Ukraine

Start date: as soon as possible

II. Organizational context

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit organization that operates abroad in the context of humanitarian aid and development cooperation. It is a respected member of the Caritas Internationalis network. Its foreign activities focus on the health and social sectors and also on developing livelihood for the local population and education of children and adults.

III. Responsibilities

Field Coordinator - Project Manager (FC-PM) will be responsible for the management of CCR emergency response in the Transcarpathian Region of Ukraine.

He / she will work under supervision of CCR Regional Manager (based in Prague) and in cooperation with CCR Desk Officer, Financial Coordinator (Prague) and CCR Country Representative (Lviv).

Specific FC-PM´s roles will include (please note a detailed job description will be provided upon hiring):

Country representation

  • Be in close contact with important actors (public authorities, NGOs, donors, foreign embassies etc.) and coordinate CCR activities with them;
  • Proactively seek further funding opportunities;
  • Ensure visibility of CCR and its activities;
  • Monitor the needs and overall situation in the region and country and proactively propose further CCR interventions;
  • In cooperation with the Regional Manager, adjust CCR emergency response strategy in line with the changing context;
  • When needed and upon approval from the Regional Manager, hire further team members and build CCR local team.

Project management

  • Carry out overall management and coordination of CCR emergency project in the region (i.e. ensuring that the project results and objectives as per project documents are achieved within the given budget and time-plan);
  • Conduct regular onsite monitoring of projects activities;
  • Conduct regular internal evaluation of the project progress and outcomes (based on the project logframe) and proposes modification of the projects design when needed;
  • Manage project team;
  • Coordinate projects activities implemented by project partners and carry out their quality supervision;
  • Plan and monitor budget spending;
  • Carry out reporting - prepare internal progress updates, elaborate reports for donor and support CCR financial staff in financial reporting;
  • Ensure PR and visibility of the project, donor and CCR;
  • Identify problems if any arise during the project implementation and prepare appropriate solutions in cooperation with the Regional Manager.

IV. Qualifications and competencies

Required

  • University degree
  • Good knowledge of English (oral and written)
  • Good knowledge of Ukrainian and / or Russian (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills
  • Ability to perform tasks in pro-active, independent, quality and timely manner
  • Ability and readiness to improvise when needed and solve problems in creative way
  • Advanced user skills of MS Office software (predominantly MS Excel and Word)
  • Driver´s licence

Recommended

  • University degree in relevant fields (development and humanitarian studies, human rights, social sciences, business management and similar)
  • Experience in project cycle management in development cooperation and / or humanitarian aid
  • Project proposal writing skills
  • Project report writing skills
  • Familiarity with project financial management
