Caritas Czech Republic has been helping for a hundred years. We help people in need at home and abroad. We focus on supporting those in disadvantaged circumstances and helping them to take their lives back into their own hands. At the same time, we work to improve living conditions in the countries where we operate.

WE HELP PEOPLE AT HOME AND ABROAD

We provide a wide range of social and health care services in the Czech Republic. We help people in disadvantaged regions of the world take their lives into their own hands.

100 YEARS OF HISTORY

The origins of Caritas Czech Republic date back to the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It grew from below: Caritas organisations were established in several places at the same time. In June 1918, for example, the Union of Catholic Charities in the Kingdom of Bohemia was founded at the instigation of Archbishop Paul Huyn of Prague. In 1922, the creation of Caritas network was completed, when the Union of Caritas in Olomouc and Brno was founded.
