Internships and volunteering

Internships or volunteering offer many opportunities to get involved in humanitarian aid and development cooperation activities and experience working in our organisation. Opportunities are open to anyone who wants to work with us to help people in disadvantaged regions. Students and recent graduates can intern with us according to the specific focus of their studies, while those interested from abroad can intern within the Erasmus+ programme. Professionals who want to dedicate their experience to a good cause or seek a career change are no exception.

We are accredited by the Ministry of the Interior in the field of volunteer service and hold the Quality Label certification for humanitarian fields within the European Commission's European Solidarity Corps programme.

Who is the internship for?

Anyone who has the possibility to be part of our team for 3-6 months (at least 20/h per week) can apply. In addition to students, enthusiasts with a sincere interest in gaining experience in a non-profit organization working in humanitarian and development projects can also apply.

What should you be able to do?

We are an international team, and candidates interested in the internship should have an excellent command of the English language and excellent communication skills. A good working knowledge of MS Office is also essential. Depending on the internship’s focus, additional experience, such as working with word processing or specific applications, may be required.

How can I help in my volunteer role?

Volunteer activities allow short- and long-term involvement in our department depending on the type of activity (e.g. language translation, preparation of graphics, participation at stands, etc.). In particular, reliability and the ability to meet agreed deadlines are required.

What can we offer you in return?

The opportunity to work with a great team of open-minded and enthusiastic people, deepen your existing knowledge under the guidance of experienced professionals, gain new experience, make new contacts and have the chance for future long-term cooperation. We will happily issue you a certificate of completion of your internship, volunteering or other recommendation.

How can you get involved?

Internship in development and humanitarian aid projects

Are you interested in working on projects, the opportunity to participate in the preparation of grant applications and the administration of ongoing ones? The Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation internship is especially for those who want to get a feel for working on development projects and are interested in working with regional managers, heads of foreign offices and a range of other colleagues from project teams.

Stážistka Dominika

"During my studies at university, I was already interested in development cooperation and humanitarian aid, so thanks to the Erasmus+ programme I took the opportunity to do a graduate traineeship at Caritas Czech Republic. I am currently working on the preparation of development projects in the Western Balkan countries. During the first month of my internship, I saw how things work in the non-profit sector and gained valuable experience in the development field in such a short time, for which I am very grateful."

Communication internship

Do you enjoy writing, working with texts of all kinds, and would you like to contribute to communicating the work of Charity Czech Republic abroad? During your internship in our international communications team, you can write and edit articles, create social network posts, or prepare our regular newsletter. You will also get a peek into strategic PR and marketing planning. Getting involved in many other activities, such as campaign preparation, photo and video editing, graphic work or administration is possible.

Dominika Kundertová

"The internship in the communications team offered a combination of the ideal things I was looking for - work experience in the field of communications and PR, which I plan to study, and working for a well-respected non-profit organization. I believe internships are one of the best things students can do professionally. Internships are incredibly valuable regarding experience, industry knowledge, and inspiring people to be around. You also experience much professional self-discovery during internships. I have yet to meet a person who regrets completing an internship."

"I applied for the internship to get an idea of running a non-profit organisation focusing on, among other topics, development projects and humanitarian aid. In the MEAL unit, I mainly worked on data organisation, through which I gained, among other skills, a higher level of knowledge of MS Office and experience working with applications such as Power BI and Power Apps.
