Caritas Czech Republic among the best rated European organizations

Providing urgent humanitarian aid to those in need has been one of the main pillars of our work abroad. Therefore, we are happy to announce that we have been among the first organizations certified by the EU agency ECHO to implement high-quality and efficient humanitarian projects in the years to come.

Over the years, Caritas Czech Republic provided humanitarian aid in numerous countries, from distributing food to people displaced by war in Iraq to increasing resilience of people affected by natural disasters in Cambodia, protection of herds from extremely cold winters in Mongolia or provision of emergency training for local detention organizations in Chechnya. We have also continuously improved the work that we do and strove to make it as effective as possible.

The European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (ECHO) is an EU agency providing urgent assistance to people affected by both natural and man-made disasters. Its high standards of operation mean that it works only with selected certified partners, who can demonstrate that their work is highly professional and efficient.

Caritas Czech Republic has been working with ECHO since 2004.

In order to continue working with ECHO in the coming years, Caritas Czech Republic had to pass a thorough organizational audit, which evaluated everything from our operational capacities, specific expertise and policies of internal control to our safeguarding standards, accountability mechanisms and financial management tools. This year, Caritas Czech Republic has passed the organizational audit done by Deloitte with the highest mark possible and therefore was among the first organizations certified to work with ECHO in the period from 2021 to 2027.

We are immensely proud to count ourselves among the experienced and qualified partners of ECHO and we see this certification as a proof of the quality of the work that we do. More importantly, ECHO certification will allow us to help more people in urgent need of humanitarian aid, which will continue to be the focus of our work in the years to come.
