In response Monday´s earthquake, the American charity CRS (Catholic Relief Services) will send a team to Pakistan and Afghanistan to evaluate the extent of damages and to plan a process of effective humanitarian aid.
„We closely cooperate with our partners on evalution of the extent and seriousness of the natural disaster,“ Mr Schaefer, the regional assistant CRS in Pakistan, advised. „Considering this mountainous region, there is a threat of landslides.“
The natural disaster, which happened in the early morning on Monday, had cut significant road networks in both countries. „The earthquake hit remote areas, which is a good and bad news at the same time,“ Schaefer added. „Goodnews, because it effected smaller number of people, but bad news because it is be harder to reach and help victims.“
Caritas ČR announced financial aid to help both countries. Donations can be sent at the account 55660022/0800, under variable symbol 173 (Afghanistan) and 132 (Pakistan). We are grateful to all doners!
