In Africa, we work primarily in Zambia and Ethiopia. We focus on improving living conditions, supporting livelihoods, including agricultural development and starting our own businesses. We focus on climate change adaptation. We help refugees get back on their feet.

In Zambia, we support sustainable farming, entrepreneurship and refugee education. In Ethiopia, we focus on ensuring access to clean water, strengthening climate resilience and supporting women. After the earthquake that hit Morocco in 2023, we provided humanitarian assistance in the country.

Farmer Everisto in Zambia faces drought caused by the climate crisis. Caritas Czech Republic helped him cope with the challenges

Everisto has been farming in Zambia for several decades, providing for both himself and his family through his hard work. However, his crops have been increasingly threatened by drought. Thanks to training from Caritas Czech Republic, Everisto is now better equipped to cope with the effects of climate change.

Earthquake in Morocco – Two years since the catastrophe

On September 8, 2023, a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale struck Morocco. The epicentre was located approximately 70 kilometres southwest of Marrakesh. The disaster claimed nearly 3,000 lives and affected up to 300,000 people, one third of whom were children. Around 50,000 homes were either partially or completely destroyed. Two years later, we commemorate not only the victims of the earthquake but also the assistance provided by Caritas Czech Republic.

Farmer Enoch from Zambia is facing several challenges due to climate change. Caritas Czech Republic helped him farm sustainably

Enoch has been a farmer for almost 10 years. Recently he has been struggling with droughts that threaten his agriculture. Caritas Czech Republic provided him with resilient crops and training, which taught him how to farm efficiently and sustainably. Today, he successfully grows several types of crops, sells them at markets, and manages a seed bank.
