Home care conference held in Chisinau

On the 28th and 29th of October, a conference called “Home care services as an integrated model of primary social and health care” took place in Chisinau at the National College of Medicine and Pharmacy Raisa Pacalo. The two-day conference offered not only lectures but also activities for working groups.

Registration.The first day of the conference included lectures on topics such as the perspective of concerned ministries (needs analysis, financing, and service development), legal framework, community development and public policy related to home care. After the lectures, the attendees formed three working groups to prepare proposals concerning public policy on community care for the elderly. The work groups presented their proposals in front of other participants and will submit the proposals to the relevant ministries. 

On the second day, the Czech expert Linda Maršíková delivered a lecture on financing home care services, informing the participants about best practice models and experiences in the Czech Republic.

The participants could also attend an exposition in the foyer, where the medical and disinfectant supplies used in providing home care were on display.

A total number of 138 people attended the conference, this included representatives from non-governmental institutions, directors of hospitals, municipal and district health centres, and representatives from Moldovan ministries, social care departments and local public administration bodies. Representatives from the Czech embassy in Chisinau also attended the conference.

During the lesson.The whole event had a positive result: the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family of Moldova invited the monitoring group, supported by Caritas CR, to prepare a calculation of the prices for the social components of home care. The group’s members included representatives from Moldovan NGOs and other major actors across the home care field.

Home care services was supported by the Czech Development Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Programme of International Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic.
