In August 2015, representatives from Caritas CR signed an agreement with local governments in Caedir Lunga and Stefan Voda to provide premises for new home care centres free of charge. The buildings for the centres were chosen by personnel from local governments together with representatives from local hospitals: it was important that the centres were close to the existing medical facilities.
After all necessary permissions for construction were obtained, tenders for the supply of construction works, technical and medical equipment were organized. Two cars, necessary for the provision of home care social and health care services, were also purchased.
At the present moment, the reconstruction of both buildings is underway. Workers from the construction company S.R.L. AMBORIO have already installed doors, windows, ventilation and drainage systems. They have insulated and plastered the buildings and the access roads to the buildings are now paved. All works related to the reconstruction should be finished by the end of November, and both centres are expected to start providing home care services from December onwards.
During November, employees for both centres were hired and trained in five-day training sessions. The centres’ employees will undergo more training sessions next year and will also visit other home care centres established by Caritas CR that are already operational.
The official opening of the Saint Pateleimon centre in Ceadir Lung and the Maria Magdalena centre in Stefan Voda, at which representatives from the Czech government should be present, is planned for January of next year.
The activities of Caritas CR aimed at the development of home care in South Moldova was supported by the Czech Development Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Programme of International Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic.
