November 2nd, 2015 held the first of a series of training courses designed for social workers dealing with abandoned children. Improving the knowledge and skills of care workers and social workers will contribute to higher quality relationships with the children.
Listeners were from the ranks of specialists who deal with the protection of vulnerable children and their rights. This included psychologists, foster parents and educators.
The trainings focused on, for example, international and national standards for the protection and care of vulnerable or abandoned children, on the growth and development of children and aid granted to high-risk groups of children to help them overcome trauma and solve problems through behavioural and emotional techniques. The mental health status of care providers was also highlighted, for example, techniques to prevent professional burnout syndrome. In conclusion, participants received certificates of completion for the 20 hours of training.
Caritas Czech Republic along with the centre SocioPolis and the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and the Family have long endeavoured to improve the knowledge and skills of individuals who provide social protection for children and young people by providing theoretical knowledge, practical advice, examples and worksheets. Activities are financially supported by the Czech Development Agency.
