Caritas Kolomyja, one of the partners of Archdiocesan Caritas of Olomouc (ACHO) in Ukraine, won a Ukrainian national competition “Dobročinna Ukrajina in 2012”, in the category of “ Philanthropist – the best regional charity organisation”. ACHO has supported this partner for more than six years now and so is extremely pleasured by this award together with the workers from Kolomyja.
“It is an extraordinary moment for us. It confirms the correctness and quality of our work in Ukraine and I would like to thank everyone who has supported and still supports our activities in Ukraine for ACHO. Individual donors, companies, our local charities, but also donors of Three Kings Collection because thanks to that campaign we were able to finance our activities in Ukraine,” coordinator of the ACHO´s projects in Ukraine Rostislav Strojvus said.
“Victory in national competition was a special pleasant surprise“. The director of Caritas Kolomyja Sergei Tryf´yak commented. “Our victory was a result of the charity´s employees every day hard work. A large extent of this victory goes also to people and organisations who trust and help our Caritas,” he added. He also observed that awards like this are very important and that is because they prove that the Caritas is going in the right direction.
This organisation ACHO helped with the start-up of a social enterprise with the purchase of a fruit press. It supports the functioning and development of their farm permanently. Another donation are given related to special occasions like floods or flu epidemic. ACHO provides this organisation volunteers regularly, humanitarian packages, and supports training of their employees. Through this organisation, there are also many Christmas packages heading to children in children’s homes and socially disadvantaged families every year.
Caritas Kolomyjsko – Chernivetské epartie, has organised a lot of social projects recently and also organises big charity occasions every year. Caritas Kolomyja is perceived as responsible friend of everyone who is in a hard situation in life. The activities and creativity of this organisation was the main thing that attracted attention in the competition.
Besides ACHO this Ukrainian organisation is also supported by Slovenská katolícka charita and Spišská katolícka charita. Currently there are intensive operations for widening the farm by opening the beekeeping operations up.
Charity development in Ukraine is an important factor for the development of Ukrainian society in general – this is belief of organizers of national competition Dobročina Ukrajina – 2012.
