Volunteering abroad

Do you want to use your knowledge and experiences while helping in disadvantaged non-European regions? Join Caritas on the EVOCA (European Volunteers for Caritas) volunteer programme and get involved in the work of one of Caritas Czech Republic's foreign branches - in Iraq, Georgia, Mongolia or Zambia. You will get to know life in another place in the world in depth, experience adventure and gain valuable experience. The programme is open to young people from all over Europe who want to gain new professional experience while getting involved in humanitarian aid and development cooperation. We are sending a total of 26 volunteers, at least 8 of them volunteers with fewer opportunities.

How to get involved?

What is the EVOCA project?

The three-year EVOCA (European Volunteers for Caritas) project involves young European volunteers in humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Through the project, young people gain professional experience, experience European solidarity outside the European Union, and develop social and professional skills. The consortium of organisers includes 5 Caritas: Caritas Czech Republic, Caritas Austria, Caritas Flanders Belgium, Caritas Ukraine and Caritas Europa.

Which country can I go to and for how long?

Volunteers who apply through Caritas Czech Republic can travel to Georgia, Iraq, Mongolia and Zambia. The duration of the volunteering programme ranges from 9-10 months.

In what professional areas do volunteers help

We are currently looking for volunteers for PR, finance, administration, project management or environmental protection. Opportunities can be searched on the website of European Youth Portal.

What are the conditions of participation in the programme?

Volunteering is open to people aged 18-35 who are legally resident in an EU Member State or in a third country associated to the programme (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Turkey and the Republic of North Macedonia) and who have registered on the European Solidarity Corps portal. They also need to be able to communicate in English, which is the main language of communication during their stay. Knowledge of the country's official language or another language is an advantage but not a requirement

Do I have to pay anything or is the programme fully covered?

The project will pay for your travel and accommodation, you will also receive a food allowance and a small allowance for personal expenses. You will also get supplementary insurance and access to various support services such as language support and training. If you have specific needs (e.g. a disability), these costs may also be covered.

How to apply?

The first step is to register on the European Youth Portal. With the training completed, you can then apply for individual volunteering opportunities
