Moldova took a big step forward in the area of child and youth protection. On 14th June 2013 the Moldovan Parliament passed law N.140 on vulnerable children and children lacking family care. The law comes into force on 1st January 201.Caritas Czech Republic contributed to its passing.

Caritas CR helping refugees even in Northern Syria

Since the beginning of August, Caritas CZ also helps the refugees in north Syria, in the regions of Idlib and Hama. For one year, several hundreds of families live here in the Byzantine ruins and their surroundings. These families have been getting the food vouchers for three months, to provide purchase of bread and get packages including the basic food items such as rice, oil, sugar and tea-these last them for about one month.

19 August is the United Nations’ World Humanitarian Day. In Prague, four aid workers from prominent Czech NGOs sat down to a table to talk about their experience. Another year and more floods in Pakistan

Heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan have destroyed thousands of homes, roads, bridges and farms for the third year in a row. The 2010 floods were the worst in recent history, with a fifth of the country underwater. The 2011 and 2012 floods also caused damage across vast areas. Caritas Pakistan Executive Director Amjad Gulzar says that the current situation is already worse than the last two years. Read more.
