Cold and unfavorable conditions burden the lives of refugees in the countries where they have fled to from their homes. They ran away from violence and now they are facing another crisis – winter. In December, more than half a million refugees crossed the borders of Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq. Thousands more are coming these days.

Caritas provides help to Syrian refugees in Jordan

The situation in refugee camps and also in towns close to the Jordan-Syrian border has recently become much worse. This is because the conflict has moved closer to the border zone. Even though the way out of the country has been cut off and the influx of refugees into Jordan stymied, during the previous weeks the refugees have begun arriving again. At this moment around 500 people are crossing the border every day.

Caritas CR joined a network, and launched its assistance to the regions affected by the floods. At this particular moment, Caritas CR provides temporary accommodation and other assistance to people who have been evacuated. Fieldwork is carried out simultaneously. Charities in Moravia and Silesia also offered their help and support to affected areas.

Caritas ČR started education of teachers working with handicapped Chechen children. Last year the project focused mainly on inclusion of handicapped children to the society, this year it will have as principal aim the training of teachers in the area of special pedagogy.
