Caritas Czech Republic has been helping to improve maternal and newborn healthcare in Cambodia for a long time. This time we will equip the National Paediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the necessary medical equipment. Providing the necessary medical devices to the hospital and the associated training of local staff will help to reduce neonatal and under-five mortality rates and reduce maternal mortality.
Improved access to antenatal and postnatal care
The delivery of medical equipment to the National Paediatric Hospital in Cambodia will be carried out under the Czech Republic's foreign development cooperation. Caritas Czech Republic succeeded among a wide range of competitors and won the public contract, announced by the Czech Development Agency.
In cooperation with the local company DKSH (Cambodia) Ltd., we will equip the National Paediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh with medical devices that are adapted to specific local conditions, such as building or energy constraints. The medical devices and equipment supplied include a vital signs monitor, a ventilator for mechanical ventilation of adults, a delivery table, an examination chair, an ultrasound, a neonatal resuscitation machine, a transport incubator and more.
Medical equipment for operating rooms and intensive care will help improve diagnostic care and ensure safe performance of surgical procedures. At the same time, thanks to modern equipment, the subsequent intensive and standard inpatient care will be improved.
In Phnom Penh, we will also train the medical and technical staff of the National Paediatric Hospital in the proper operation and maintenance of the new medical devices and equipment. The training will also focus on providing service and preventive check-ups during the warranty period.
Caritas Czech Republic supporting healthcare in Cambodia
We have been working in Cambodia since 2011, and in addition to supporting the health care, we have focused on improving access to drinking water and sanitation, working on inclusion in education and supporting the integration of people with disabilities into the labour market.
The delivery of medical equipment to the National Paediatric Hospital in Cambodia is possible thanks to the support of the Czech Development Agency.
