Innovations in agriculture

Agriculture is the source of livelihood for one-third of the population in developing countries. But climate change or a lack of information often prevent people from tapping into agriculture's potential. At Caritas, we help farmers access modern approaches and introduce technological innovations to the agricultural industry. This is helping to increase the efficiency of agricultural production, even in the face of a changing climate.

Supporting farmers in Zambia

Changing climatic conditions are causing poor harvests for Zambian farmers. However, agriculture is critical to ensuring a diverse diet and preventing malnutrition. It is also the primary source of livelihood for the vast majority of Zambians.

Caritas Czech Republic is introducing Zambian farmers to innovative ways to resist climate change. We support farmers to grow resilient crops and use mobile apps to forecast the weather and sell their crops, and we showcase the importance of a balanced diet to combat malnutrition.

Rural development in Georgia

Supporting rural areas and their self-reliance is an essential part of sustainable development. However, Georgia's mountainous regions face a rural-urban exodus, leaving the countryside in a state of deprivation.

Caritas Czech Republic is helping to revive livelihoods in Georgia for rural people so that they do not have to go to the cities for work. One of our activities is to promote and innovate livestock management practices to serve as a sustainable source of livelihood.

Rebuilding agriculture in Iraq

Iraq has long been facing a devastating drought. Agriculture is the source of livelihood for a large part of the population. The political situation in the country makes the situation even worse.

Caritas Czech Republic is introducing Iraqi farmers to training in effective farming methods to enable them to make better use of natural conditions and make their work more profitable.
