Humanitarian Aid
Humanitarian aid is the immediate assistance we provide during a natural disaster or war. Humanitarian aid is critical in disasters and war conflicts. Its purpose is to save lives, preserve health and provide basic needs of affected people. We provide disaster victims with water, food, shelter, other material support, and medical and psychological assistance. We help affected people get back on their feet.
We provide basic needs for people affected by the earthquake on the Turkey-Syria border. After the outbreak of war in Ukraine, we provided material aid for war zones and refugee and IDP facilities. In the past, we have provided aid to victims of the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, or been involved in helping people affected by the war in Iraq, Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh, and working with refugees in Zambia.
Food aid
Providing basic food is crucial, especialluy in the immediate aftermath of a humanitarian disaster. We distribute food parcels, cooking materials, baby food or even vouchers for shopping to the affected people.
Water, hygiene and sanitation
After a humanitarian disaster, people often live in temporary conditions such as tents or makeshift shelters. In addition, water infrastructure is often destroyed. Yet water and sanitation are essential to prevent the spread of serious infectious diseases. We distribute bottled water, build sanitary facilities such as latrines and showers, and construct mobile homes with hygienic facilities.
Shelter and housing reconstruction
The first step after a disaster is to provide decent and safe temporary shelter. Very quickly follows the reconstruction of damaged houses or the construction of longer-term accommodation facilities, follows to allow people to return to their homes.
Material assistance
People affected by a humanitarian disaster often end up safe with just one bag. They may stay in temporary accommodation for several years. They, therefore, need not only food and shelter but also basic material needs such as clothing, hygiene items, cooking supplies, sleeping materials, etc.
Psychosocial support
A humanitarian disaster is always very mentally challenging. Whether people have lost their loved ones, their homes, their jobs, or have been injured, everyone deserves psychological help and support during a difficult time. We also provide psychological care to the victims
Healthcare and medical supplies
The provision of health care and the distribution of medicines are essential parts of humanitarian aid. However, areas affected by a humanitarian disaster cannot cover the need for health services following the sudden displacement of large numbers of people or the destruction of infrastructure. We help by supplying equipment and medicines to make the work of medics as efficient as possible and reach as many people as possible.
