In the Mayukwayukwa refugee settlement in Zambia, three young refugees who fled their home country started with a simple idea: bringing computers to their community. Just two years later, and thanks to the support from Caritas Czech Republic, they turned their idea into a thriving business by opening an ICT centre. Today, the centre offers variety of services, from printing to photography to designing. For the young guys, the centre is more than just a job.

A small bakery in the Iraqi city of Karakosh is busy in the morning hours. Three workers bustle around the small space, placing dough for traditional Iraqi bread to the hot walls of two ovens. Moments later, still hot, the bread is served to customers. The bakery is run by twenty-seven-year-old Saman. He fled his hometown because of the war with the so-called Islamic State and returned a few years later to pursue his dream of owning his own bakery. Did you know that basket weaving is one of the oldest crafts in the world? You would probably not expect that even refugees in Zambia make a living by weaving baskets. In the Mayukwayukwa refugee settlement, located in Zambia's Western province, there is a team of women who have come together to make a business out of it. My life was hard, but now it is changing for the better, says Roza, a refugee in Zambia, after receiving support on her small business from Caritas Czech Republic.
