Humanitarian aid in Ukraine is underfunded

As the conflicts in eastern Ukraine are increasing in last three months, the humanitarian situation is rapidly getting worse. In one year, the number of exiles has increased from 17,000 in April 2014 to the current 1,200,000 or even 1,225,700 people, as reported on 24th of April, 2015 by the UN Office for Humanitarian Assistance.

Caritas teams in Nepal affected by earthquake

Several Caritas teams already work in Nepal affected on 25 April 2016 by a big earthquake. Besides local Caritas Nepal, whose members provide earthquake victims food and provisional shelters, CRS (Catholic Relief Services), and rescue teams from Caritas Australia and Caritas New Zealand along with CAFOD of England were working on the field. Caritas Czech Republic have also joined this worldwide “charity family”, opening on Sunday a public collection and releasing for an immediate relief an amount of CZK 200,000 as well.

"The school looks frightful.  Even after a year since  typhoon Haiyan, some buildings remain  without a roof, and the classrooms are  unequipped. Teachers were writing  learning material  on a sheet of paper or wood stuck to a wall instead of a blackboard", Melinda Gad-Tabuco explained after her  first visit to the school in July 2014. As an adminstrator, she was in charge of reorganizing  the Integrated School in Burgos. But everything had  changed.

This resettlement program is coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior, but transfer and integration itself is carried out by Caritas.
