Home care in Gori

By provision of home care services, we help people with different physical or psychological problems who, due to their status, can not enjoy an independent life. Our aim is to enable these people to live full life by providing them psychosocial and healthcare assistance in their own homes.

Caritas Czech Republic and Caritas Georgia started to provide home care service in Gori and surrounded villages in the buffer zone in summer 2009, in reaction to the last conflict between Georgia and the Russian Federation. A daily center was built which serves as base for nurses, doctors and project volunteers.

Beneficiaries are elderly, bedridden, handicapped and other extremely vulnerable people with no or very limited access to medical and social service. These are currently around 130 beneficiaries included in the project.

Healthcare services and psychosocial support are offered daily. Social assistance is provided by project volunteers who also help to promote a model of volunteerism and its important value in society.

For medical staff there are regular trainings organized, supervisions and other activities to raise the professionalism of services offered within project.

This project of home care service is supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic within the program of the Czech Development Cooperation with Georgia.
