The crisis that erupted in Syria in 2011 triggered the flight of thousands of Syrians to Jordan. The presence of many refugees has placed increased demands on the Jordanian economy and public services. The high number of refugees has strained Jordan’s economy to the point of becoming unsustainable. Caritas Czech Republic therefore supported the provision of humanitarian assistance in the form of food and clothing vouchers and contributions towards shelter rental.
Between 2014 and 2017, Caritas Czech Republic helped Syrian refugees settle in Jordan, and the host Jordanian population cope with the impacts of the Syrian crisis and contributed to a peaceful and democratic transformation of Syria after the end of the conflict through the following projects:
- Syria Crisis – Assistance in Jordan (April–October 2013)
- Adult Education in Jordan (2014–2017)
