5 ways Caritas Czech Republic protects the environment

At Caritas Czech Republic, we care about our planet. That is why we help protect it in several countries around the world. In Iraq and Zambia, we support farmers in adapting to climate change so that they can continue to grow and harvest successfully. In Moldova and Georgia, we are introducing the benefits of composting, and in Mongolia we are helping to prevent plastic waste from flooding the beautiful countryside. Tragic balance of 6 months of war in Gaza: Tens of thousands dead, unprecedented destruction and imminent famine

Half a year of intense fighting, shelling and bombing has left absolute devastation in Gaza. Over 33,000 Palestinians, including 14,500 children, have been killed, another 75,000 injured. Almost two million people have been displaced, many of them repeatedly. Half of Gaza's population is at imminent risk of famine, and malnutrition among children has reached unprecedented levels. Despite the dire conditions, Caritas continues to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Giulia Bellabarba is a Master's student in International Relations. She spent five months at Caritas Czech Republic as an intern in the Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation department. Giulia helped the communications team write articles, worked on newsletters and administrative tasks. Fleeing the growing conflict in Ukraine, they embarked on a challenging journey, driven by a strong desire to keep their family safe and secure. Their story reflects both resilience and the challenges of starting a new life.

Nino Paatashvili started a child development centre from her own home. Today, her centre supports more than 300 children in Georgia

For Autism Awareness Month in April, we interviewed Nino Paatashvili, the director of the Child Development Center in Telavi. The centre in a small town in Georgia has been supporting the development of children since it was established in 2000. Caritas Czech Republic is closely cooperating with the Georgian government to develop state services for children and advocate for children's services that are not established in the region, including services for children with autism.
