Help people affected by the crisis in the Middle East

The security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. Ongoing attacks and growing instability have forced more than 4 million people from theirhomes. Many have left with only the bare essentials and are now finding temporary refuge in improvised shelters. The need for immediate humanitarian assistance is therefore increasing.

The Caritas network operates throughout the Middle Eastern region, providing people with lifesaving support. Thanks to local staff who know the environment and the communities, help can reach those most in need quickly and effectively.

Funds raised by Caritas Czech Republic will be used to provide material assistance and other essential aid to people in the Middle East.

However, displacement takes many forms – 36.4 million have sought safety across borders, while 8.4 million are already abroad applying for asylum. Armed conflicts, ceasefires during which civilians continue to die, and drone attacks in previously safe areas. At the moment, there are more active conflicts than at any time since the end of World War II. Half of those conflicts are taking place in Africa. Their consequences do not affect only the participating states, their residents or neighbouring countries; they impact the whole world, our economy, environment and peace of mind. Amid the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, a new devastating public health emergency is breaking: a massive rodent infestation that is spreading diseases. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 70,000 cases of ectoparasite infections and rodent -borne illness have been reported in Gaza since the start of 2026 alone.
