Caritas for Middle East

Help people affected by the crisis in the Middle East

The security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. Ongoing attacks and growing instability have forced more than 4 million people from theirhomes. Many have left with only the bare essentials and are now finding temporary refuge in improvised shelters. The need for immediate humanitarian assistance is therefore increasing.

The Caritas network operates throughout the Middle Eastern region, providing people with lifesaving support. Thanks to local staff who know the environment and the communities, help can reach those most in need quickly and effectively.

Funds raised by Caritas Czech Republic will be used to provide material assistance and other essential aid to people in the Middle East.

One year since the ceasefire: What has (not) changed in Gaza?

Three years ago, Hamas militants attacked Israel. More than 1,200 people were killed and others were taken hostage. The fighting that followed in the Gaza Strip triggered one of the world's largest ongoing humanitarian crises. By June this year, the conflict in Gaza had claimed more than 74,000 lives and displaced two million people. The ceasefire signed a year ago was expected to bring an end to the violence and improve living conditions. Yet the situation in Gaza remains dire. So, what has really changed over the past year?

Supporting people through difficult times: How Caritas cares for mental health around the world

World Mental Health Day, observed annually on 10 October, reminds us that mental well-being is just as important as physical health. That is why mental health is a core part of our work at Caritas Czech Republic. For example, in Gaza and Ukraine, we support people whose mental health has been profoundly affected by the long-term consequences of armed conflict. We also contribute to the development of mental health services in Georgia and Moldova.
