We are sending a power generator able supply electricity for an entire hospital

In cooperation with Czech Railways and he Czech Railway Cargo we sent a train with humanitarian aid to Ukraine this past Monday. A total of 84 power generators, backup electricity supply, and bottled water for people who have had to flee their homes. Our partner Caritas Ukraine will distribute the aid to those in need.

The humanitarian train brought energy supplies for thousands of people

People are fleeing the country at the moment, but some have not left their homes. Due to war, the food shelves are getting emptier each day and many people are without electricity.

“According to our partners in Ukraine, generators are very much needed at the moment as they will help provide electricity to displaced citizens and those who are helping them,” says Evžen Diviš, Regional Manager of Caritas Czech Republic, about the humanitarian shipment.

The dispatched generators include 3 kW petrol generators and one 30 kW diesel backup energy source that can generate electricity for a hospital or a placement centre for displaced people. The shipment also contains bottled water donated by the Mattoni company.

We are continuing to help, the needs are growing every day

The train to Ukraine is the third shipment of direct humanitarian aid from the Caritas Czech Republic to Ukraine. "Caritas is currently providing humanitarian aid to hundreds of thousands of people in Ukraine. It provides temporary shelter for refugees, distributes basic food and hygiene items. But supplies are running out fast and the demand for help is growing rapidly," explains Evžen Diviš.

In the previous weeks, we have dispatched a truck with medical supplies, durable food, hygiene items and 47 petrol-powered electric generators, which helped during the devastating tornado in South Moravia last year.
