People in Ukraine are facing another difficult winter, while attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure continue. Residents of Kharkiv endure shelling almost every day, yet thousands of families remain, and children are doing their best to continue their education. Our autumn campaign is dedicated to supporting them. All donations made to the Caritas for Ukraine fundraising campaign between 20 October and the end of December will be used to equip two underground schools and the very first newly built underground kindergarten, helping them operate safely throughout the coming winter months.

What do the schools need right now?

Technical infrastructure

Classroom equipment

Generators

Storage spaces

Relaxation area with games

Kristýna Kvasničková
From previous years, we know that attacks on energy infrastructure can leave millions of people without electricity and heating. That is why it is crucial to act now rather than wait for a crisis to unfold. In such circumstances, underground schools play an irreplaceable role. They provide protection from bombardment while also offering children a safe environment for learning, socialising with their peers, and maintaining a sense of stability in their daily lives. To continue fulfilling this important role over the long term, they need adequate equipment and facilities.
