How Iman from Iraq turned her father’s artistic legacy into a handmade business

In the Christian town of Bartella in northern Iraq, 24-year-old Iman  sits at her work table, brushing resin onto smooth stones and arranging beads into intricate designs. From this small room in her family home, Iman has built a flourishing handwork business, one rooted in tradition, creativity, and determination. With support from Caritas Czech Republic, she has turned a simple post-graduation hobby into a livelihood that now reaches customers as far away as Canada.

Caritas Czech Republic provided comfort for twelve vulnerable families in the western Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Caritas Czech Republic has been providing decent living conditions for war-affected families in western Ukraine. Recently, we purchased essential household appliances for 12 flats in the village of Kernytsia, in the Lviv region. Here, the local community, together with charitable organisations, transformed the former village council building into social housing. Thanks to this, Olha and her young children now have a safe new home.

Family gives the strength to move on. How Caritas Czech Republic supports war-affected families in Ukraine

Russia's war against Ukraine has separated and made homeless thousands of Ukrainian families, destroying not only their homes but also their hometowns. Victoria and Yevgeniy are a couple from frontline Kharkiv, which has been under massive attack since the first days of the full-scale invasion. The family moved to Transcarpathia to save their minor children. Thanks to the assistance provided by Caritas Czech Republic, the large family was able to restore their income and gain professional development.
