Wardé: Caritas helped me carry on

Wardé, a 63-year-old nurse and mother of three, smiles as she tells her unbelievable life story. One would not say how much suffering she had in her life. Death of a son, marriage to a drug addict, loss of her own home and an explosion in the capital of Lebanon, where she lives. Caritas helped Wardé to keep fighting. For her children, home and a better life.

Caritas is raising awareness about diabetes in Moldova and helps people suffering from the disease

In Moldova, about 60,000 people suffer from type 2 diabetes. However, according to local doctors, the number might be much higher, even double. Due to the absence of a registry for diabetics in Moldova, a large proportion of potentially affected people do not receive any help. Caritas Czech Republic is trying to change that. We raise awareness about diabetes in the country and provide medical services to patients with the disease.

April is the month for autism awareness and acceptance. In Georgia, life is not easy for people with autism spectrum disorder especially due to low awareness of this disorder. However, situation has improved in past years also thanks to the efforts of Caritas Czech Republic. We have been training doctors and behaviour therapists, opened kindergarten groups for children with autism and introduced national autism service standards.
