Caritas has made a great contribution to my son’s progress, says mother of a boy with autism

Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia has opened inclusive groups in kindergartens for children with autism and has been raising awareness of autism spectrum disorder in the country for the past five years. This April, the autism awareness month, Caritas joins the Autism-Europe “I can work, I can learn” campaign. Mother of a son with autism told us how her son's behavior had improved significantly thanks to the help of Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia.

The Labyrinth 2030 contest for young people under 30 focuses on innovation in development cooperation and has been running since September 2020. In the past four months, the five best teams have been working on their ideas, and an expert jury will decide the winner this Wednesday, April 21st. The winner will not only have a great feeling from doing a really meaningful work, but they will also gain the opportunity to turn the project into reality and especially will get a chance to go to one of the Caritas Czech Republic‘s country offices.

Mongolia is a country of young people. Young people aged 15-34 comprise Mongolia’s largest demographic and more than one-third of the population. Under the financial support of the European Union and the Canada fund, Caritas Czech Republic, Mongolian Youth Council and Center of Citizenship Education have been working on youth development and empowerment in Mongolia. Within the framework of the “All for YOUth, YOUth for all” project, Mongolian Youth Council revived http://ivolunteer.mn/ platform in order to enhance volunteerism among young people.

Thanks to Caritas, children with autism have access to better services in Georgia

Giorgi is a kind 15-year-old boy, but he does not feel comfortable communicating with other people. He was diagnosed with autism, and despite his condition, he attends a public school. Caritas contributed to making public services more accessible for Giorgi – we supported the child and adolescent development centre, founded by Giorgi’s mother in the town of Akhaltsikhe. The region lacked this type of service for children with autism – the closest place was in Tbilisi, three hours’ drive from Akhaltsikhe.
