Caritas Czech Republic had been active in the Indonesian region of Aceh since the beginning of 2005. Initially, it focused on the distribution of humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of damaged homes; later, its activities were primarily directed towards restoring livelihoods for farmers and fishermen and supporting the cultivation of patchouli.
Caritas Czech Republic also assisted parts of Indonesia during various disasters.
