At the beginning of the war, many Ukrainians thought they were only leaving home for 2-3 weeks. But the war is now in its the third year now, and many people have nowhere to return to: their cities are destroyed, occupied by Russia, or constantly under fire. Therefore, people have to get used to life in a new reality, and we are trying to helping them to do so. Nana opened her workshop with jewellery made from traditional Georgian enamel

Although finding a job in the Racha region in Georgia is difficult, Nana has always dreamt of returning home and making her own jewellery. With the help of Caritas Czech Republic, Nana opened an enamel workshop in her hometown of Oni, where she creates and sells handmade jewellery. Her dream is to open a guesthouse and make the workshop even bigger.

Stories from Gaza: Amal's brother lost his leg in the bombing, Hanna is endlessly searching for a shelter

The people in Gaza are living in devastating conditions. Our colleague Amal was forced to leave his home in Gaza when the war began. He and his family then lived with his friends in Khan Younis when their building was bombed in December. Amal's brother lost his leg under the crushed building and is still waiting for proper treatment. Another colleague from Caritas Jerusalem is still searching for shelter after having moved five times.

I want to become an entrepreneur and give back to my community, says Baruani, a refugee student at the Cavendish University in Zambia

Baruani is a 24-year-old student originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He fled his home country with his family to neighbouring Zambia to escape violence and conflict. They found safety in the refugee settlement of Mantapala, but Baruani wanted something more - an education that would also allow him to help other refugees. Thanks to our support, he is now studying at a university in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka.
