Caritas for Middle East

Help people affected by the crisis in the Middle East

The security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. Ongoing attacks and growing instability have forced more than 4 million people from theirhomes. Many have left with only the bare essentials and are now finding temporary refuge in improvised shelters. The need for immediate humanitarian assistance is therefore increasing.

The Caritas network operates throughout the Middle Eastern region, providing people with lifesaving support. Thanks to local staff who know the environment and the communities, help can reach those most in need quickly and effectively.

Funds raised by Caritas Czech Republic will be used to provide material assistance and other essential aid to people in the Middle East.

Light for Lost Childhood: Caritas joined a silent act of solidarity

On Thursday, 4 September 2025, the centre of Prague transformed into a space of quiet remembrance and human solidarity. A commemorative procession and subsequent benefit concert entitled Light for Lost Childhood in Palestine and Israel attracted hundreds of people who came to express compassion for child victims. The event emerged from the collaboration of numerous initiatives and humanitarian and non-profit organisations. The spiritual dimension was shaped by catholic priest Tomáš Halík and pastor Mikuláš Vymětal of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, who were closely involved in the event’s realisation.

Like many young people in Iraq, Mahmoud once faced unemployment and uncertainty. But thanks to an on-the-job training programme supported by Caritas Czech Republic, he found a stable job and a clearer path forward.

Peaceful procession “Light for Lost Childhood” – Caritas Czech Republic commemorates child victims in Palestine and Israel

On Thursday, 4 September 2025, a silent procession entitled Light for Lost Childhood in Palestine and Israel will pass through Prague, honouring the memory of children who have fallen victim to violence and war. A benefit concert at Lucerna Music Bar will follow the procession. The initiative has emerged from a broad coalition of movements, spiritual leaders, individuals, artists, and humanitarian and non-governmental organisations. Caritas Czech Republic is among them, and part of the proceeds from the concert will be allocated to the Caritas for Gaza fundraising campaign.
