Mali is located in the Sahel region. The situation in the country in 2011 and the first half of 2012 was very serious because of low rainfall that caused the food crisis in the Cercle de San. Due to low incomes from the sale of grain, people began to starve. Caritas CR therefore prepared a project to reduce the impacts of crop failure and consequent famine in the local community. It focused mainly on the supplies of food to the most vulnerable families. Caritas CR was also trying to improve vegetable production using different kinds of crops.
