The fifth shipment of humanitarian aid sent by Caritas Czech Republic has arrived in Ukraine. The truck brought food, hygiene supplies, blankets, first aid kits and two incubators to Zaporizhzhia. The war in Ukraine has displaced one in four people from their homes. Millions need help secure their basic needs, such as shelter, food and health care.
Food and medical supplies
Caritas provides for the basic needs of hundreds of thousands of people in Ukraine. It distributes food, provides shelter, clothing, as well as hygiene and basic medical supplies. The truck that arrived in Zaporizhzhia on Monday is the fifth humanitarian aid delivery we have sent to Ukraine. In addition to food, blankets, hygiene supplies and first aid kits, the shipment included two incubators. These were donated by Náchod Hospital for two medical facilities directly in Zaporizhzhia. Last week, a shipment of medicines that we arranged for the local psychiatric clinic also arrived in Zaporizhzhia.
The need for help is growing
Over ten million people have had to leave their homes in Ukraine, yet two-thirds of them remain in the country. They are unwilling or unable to leave Ukraine, even though the situation is very difficult. Ongoing fighting and shelling, dramatic price increases, shortages of basic necessities including food and toothbrushes. Caritas provides help to people who are fleeing the war, as well as to vulnerable families. We send material humanitarian aid to our Ukrainian partners to help them care for the displaced people.
We can only help in Ukraine thanks to your donations. Support the Charitas for Ukraine appeal.
