Better conditions for a dignified life in Moldova

Caritas Czech Republic has been active in Moldova since 2004. We focused on developing social and healthcare services and on improving effective waste management. In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, we expanded our work to include humanitarian assistance and the provision of basic needs for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova.

Why is help in Moldova still needed?

Although Moldova has made gradual progress in recent years, many people still face inadequate infrastructure and limited access to quality public services. This is especially true in rural areas, where schools and social services often operate in poor conditions. Strengthening local communities therefore helps create a safer and more dignified environment for children, older people, and other vulnerable groups.

How Caritas Czech Republic helps

Hygiene conditions in schools

Hygiene conditions in schools

In rural schools, we are improving hygiene and sanitation conditions by renovating sanitary facilities. The upgraded environment also helps foster a sense of safety and a welcoming school setting. At the same time, we provide education on hygienic practices for teachers, parents, and students.

Social services

Social services

In cooperation with the Czech Development Agency, we were involved in developing social services, particularly in home care for seniors and other vulnerable people. We strengthened the capacities of service providers, expanded the range of available care, and supported the establishment of community-based services that help people live with dignity in their own homes. All of these efforts have contributed to a more sustainable and accessible social care system.
